Tomás Figueiredo

French Horn

Tomás Figueiredo’s fascination with the horn began with a single moment of wonder: hearing its sound in one of Mahler’s symphonies. When he asked his conductor about the instrument, the reply stayed with him forever: “Tomás, there are many instruments with beautiful sounds – but the horn… the horn creates miracles.” That idea became a guiding force in his artistic journey.

From Portugal, he studied in Espinho and Lisbon before completing his Master’s and Konzertexamen at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Hamburg, with Prof. Ab Koster. Equally at home on modern, natural, and baroque horn, Tomás is dedicated to both historic and contemporary performance. He performed as a soloist with the Symphoniker Hamburg at the conclusion of his studies.

Since then, he has performed with many orchestras, including Staatsoper HannoverGulbenkian OrchestraNord Nederlands OrkestKammerakademie Potsdam. From 2018, he has worked regularly with Ensemble Resonanz as solo horn, utilising his abilities on modern, natural, and baroque horn, performing across Europe and contributing to several acclaimed CD recordings.

Tomás also collaborates regularly with composers and producers worldwide, contributing to a wide range of music productions – from solo artists to Netflix soundtracks.
