Oleg Shebata-Dragan

Clarinet

Ukrainian clarinetist, Oleg Shebeta-Dragan, gained international recognition in 2022 when he won the Carl Nielsen International Competition in Odense, Denmark. His performance stood out for its technical finesse, expressive depth, and natural musicality, earning him not only the first prize but also the Special Prize of the Odense Symphony Orchestra and the Junior Jury Prize.

Following this success, Oleg recorded his debut album with the Odense Symphony Orchestra for Orchid Classics, a release that received high praise from Gramophone, describing it as “exceptionally fine” and highlighting his warm tone, agility, and characterful interpretation.

Oleg has since performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Copenhagen Philharmonic OrchestraLübeck Philharmonic OrchestraSlovak SinfoniettaElbland Philharmonic Orchestra, and Norddeutsche Sinfonietta. He is also an active chamber musician, frequently collaborating with ensembles across Europe.

In 2025, Oleg was selected as a BBC New Generation Artist for the 2025–27 cycle, joining a prestigious platform that supports and showcases some of the most promising young musicians worldwide.

A Grand Prize winner of the Silverstein Global Clarinet Competition, Oleg signed with Nordic Artists Management in 2022. He is an official artist of Henri Selmer Paris and Gleichweit Mundstücke.

He began his musical education in Kyiv, studying with Andriy Mitrokhov and Roman Vovk, before continuing his training with Reiner Wehle and Jens Thoben at the University of Music Lübeck.

With his growing presence on the international stage, Oleg Shebeta-Dragan continues to establish himself as an exciting voice in the world of clarinet performance.
